KUALA LUMPUR – Zaharudin Muhammad has retained his position as PAS Sungai Buloh division chief unopposed despite controversy over his Facebook post with alleged racist undertones. Selangor PAS commissioner Ab Halim Tamuri confirmed the result, stating that the division’s top three posts remained unchanged after its annual meeting. Zaharudin, son-in-law of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, sparked backlash for mocking Malaysia’s first Chinese lieutenant general and suggesting in a hypothetical 2058 scenario that a Chinese individual could become prime minister through citizenship obtained via the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme. Police reports were lodged, but he defended his remarks.
