PUTRAJAYA, Sept 2, 2025 – Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has downplayed PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s call for MCA and MIC to join Perikatan Nasional (PN). Zahid said the overtures were made in Tuan Ibrahim’s personal capacity and stressed that neither MCA nor MIC leaders had discussed leaving BN with him or the coalition’s Supreme Council. He cautioned that such moves may not benefit the parties. While MCA and MIC grassroots have expressed dissatisfaction over limited government positions, analysts warn leaving BN could weaken their already diminished political influence.
