Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has declared that the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) provides the highest-ever allocation for the bumi putera community since independence. He cited the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (Putera35) as proof of the government’s commitment to uplift Malay economic interests, including urban Malay reserve land development. Dismissing claims of racial bias, Anwar stressed that the plan also supports Chinese, Indian, Orang Asli, and East Malaysian communities. His remarks followed PAS MP Awang Hashim’s allegation that the 13MP ignored bumiputera needs while favouring Chinese villages. DAP MP RSN Rayer has since filed a motion against Awang’s incendiary remarks.
