Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is in stable condition after a bout of diarrhoea on Wednesday last week but remains in hospital.

Though some news reports say he will be discharged soon from the hospital, it appears he is still receiving treatment.

He will be discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for a digestive system infection.

After the diarrhoea, he is now in hospital for intravenous antibiotic treatment and is expected to be discharged “in a few more days”, says a statement from his office on Sunday (Jul 4).

“His condition is stable and improving and he is allowed to work while receiving treatment,” the statement says.

VIRAL AND INTERNATIONAL

An announcement came from the PMO last week, saying that Muhyiddin has been hospitalised because of diarrhoea.

This piece of information made the headlines in several foreign news dispensers.

One such portal, World Of Buzz says, “unsurprisingly, Malaysians on social media have had a field day of the entire issue making fun of the whole situation.

“This includes political cartoonist, Fahmi Reza, making a simple but powerful image.”

With the cartoon, Fahmi launched the hashtag #pmcirit. This gained traction on Twitter.

Prominent portals, including the U.S. News and The Times of India, covering news of Muhyiddin’s hospitalisation.
