Kuala Lumpur: A report by the UK’s parliament’s foreign affairs committee recommends exploring the feasibility of an International Criminal Court probe into crimes against Uyghurs.
UK lawmakers also want Britain to take action against China for its abuses in the Xinjiang province.
They urge the British Government to go for a partial Winter Olympics boycott and cotton trade ban, say news reports.
It also calls on the government to accept the view of MPS “to bring these crimes to an end.”
China’s blatant attacks and abuse against Muslims in parts of the country is continuing unabated.
The Communist country has the silence of many Muslim countries who are not willing to criticise Beijing for the abuses.
This has bolstered the communist regime to carry out systematic imprisonment and ‘encampment’ of men, women and children. The Chinese authorities say it is to reform the people who have extreme religious views.
TOUGHER ACTIONS
MPs in the UK took a symbolic vote in April. They voted that minority groups are suffering genocide and crimes against humanity in China.
China has slammed the condemnation and says it is not carrying ‘genocide’ of Muslims or of Uyghurs. It also wants other countries to stop interfering in their internal affairs.
But the case against China is growing and is getting more international attention.
The UK MPs want Britain to use all diplomatic avenues possible to pressure Beijing. They want China to allow international observers, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to enter Xinjiang.
They also want a fast-track asylum process for those fleeing persecution in the region, forming a coalition of “sanctuary states” with Western allies.
