Former Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan says Umno is the biggest party in PN and it deserves the Deputy PM post.
Speaking to Astro Awani, Maslan says the post should have been given to Umno a long time ago.
“This would have prevented instability in the PN,” he says.
Maslan, who is also the party’s Secretary General, in politics, there must be fairness.
“Umno/BN have the most seats in the coalition government (BN+PPBM+GPS+STAR+Independents). In politics, we must be fair. If not, the coalition will not be stable,” he says.
One of the conditions for Umno not to leave the coalition government is for the party to hold the DPM post. But since PM TS Muhyiddin Yassin handed the post to Umno member DS Sabri Ismail, the party has said it has pulled support for Muhyiddin.
Maslan also denied reports that DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has resigned as the leader of Umno.
“All these are false news. It is not new,” he says, recalling the many instances where false news were circulating about Umno on the internet.
