The WHO holds a briefing on COVID-19 as the Delta variant spreads. During the meeting, WHO’s chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus urges China to be transparent.
He was speaking of WHO’s access to raw data. He says China did not share such data during the early stages of the pandemic.
“Now we have designed the second phase of the study (on the pandemic spread). We are asking China to be transparent, to be open and cooperate on the information WHO is asking for.”
China has always denied that it is withholding information or that it is not cooperating on the spread of the pandemic.
Tedros statement during the WHO briefing transmitted live by Reuters is a statement of fact. That is China is withholding information on COVID-19.
WHO is accused of being a lackey of the Chinese and some says it is conspiring with Beijing to hide information on COVID-19.
