Kuala Lumpur: Some videos on Twitter show hundreds of people breaking a barrier and climbing walls to get vaccinated in Kupang, Indonesia.
Local news portals in Indonesia says residents of Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, are scrambling to get Covid-19 vaccine.
The city was holding a mass vaccination campaign in two places, namely the NTT High Court and the Kupang State Health Policy.
At first, residents lined up from dawn to midnight. But they did not follow any SOPs and that meant no respect for social distancing.
THOUSANDS OF RESIDENTS FOR 250 DOSES
However, Detik says officials at the vaccination centres had prepared only 250 daily doses of vaccines for three days.
But officers from the police, TNI (army), and the Civil Service Police Unit disbanded thousands of residents in East Nusa Tenggara who came to get vaccinated.
They raided the Kupang Ministry of Health’s office, the police say, apparently confirming the videos the incident on Twitter.
“Thousands of residents tried to rush into the campus yard to get a queue number to get vaccinated. Seeing the increasingly uncontrollable situation, officials, through a loudspeaker, announced the cancellation of vaccination programme.
