Kuala Lumpur: There is a spike of about 5 per cent in state border crossing in Malaysia ahead of the Eid ul Adha celebration next week.

Netizens are asking whether allowing inter-state travel ahead of the Eid ul Adha celebrations next week will spark a rise in COVID-19 cases?

Nevertheless, authorities urge those crossing borders to have proper documentation. The local Malay daily Kosmos reports the police saying the vehicles are from northern states entering Kelantan through roadblocks in Jeli today.

Police say the increase in the percentage of vehicles entering the SJR is expected to occur from this morning until 12 noon.

But two there is no sign of massive border crossing from Terengganu and Gua Musang in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan. Police also say there is an increase in traffic around Kota Bharu, the capital city of Kelantan.

The traffic in the city is stressed by people going out to buy necessities to prepare for “Hari Raya Aidiladha.”
