Plans for holidays in Singapore went haywire for a Mauritian handed a S$9 358 fare for a flight to Singapore from Mauritius.
The shocked passenger says he could easily get a return Singapore-Paris flight and buy an additional Paris-Mauritius ticket for less.
Flying from Seychelles to Singapore is almost a third of the Mauritius-Singapore ticket price.
The passenger says he got a fright seeing the ticket price to Singapore. Local paper L’Express reporting the incident did not mention which airline offers the ridiculous price.
Flight to Paris on Emirates, Air France or Turkish Airlines are reasonably priced, says the paper.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there existed a corridor between Africa and Southeast Asia. In 2018, Air Mauritius had plans to boost its flights to Singapore from three a week to four. The airline was also thinking of a fifth scheduled flight.
Air Mauritius has ceased its flights to Singapore since the pandemic and after the airline went into voluntary administration.
Currently, Air Mauritius is flying to Mumbai and Paris.
