Kuala Lumpur: Umno is still in the government despite withdrawing support to PM TS Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Umno ministers and MPs are still seated with the Bersatu in the government’s wing in Parliament.
The tensions with partners Bersatu is not apparent at the Parliament though Umno leader DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says party members must table a motion and vote to end the Proclamation of Emergency.
Nevertheless, government leaders are saying the emergency will end on Aug 1, which is next week.
Early this month, the biggest government component party issued a long goodbye to Muhyiddin. At that time, Latest Malaysia wrote there is no mention of the party leaving the Perikatan Nasional government.
In a letter, party leaders had listed down what UMNO calls the seven failures of the Muhyiddin government. The party imposed two main guidelines in its support of the PM. They are:
