Kuala Lumpur: It was chaos in the Parliament as opposition lawmakers accused PM TS Muhyiddin Yassin of disobeying the King.
They say he is evading debates and voting during the special five-day session.
The opposition was altogether left incensed after Muhyiddin left midway through the session.
It was finance minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz turn to take the centre stage to deliver a winding-up speech.
The prime minister spoke in the morning on the country’s Covid-19 recovery plan.
Lawmakers were allowed short interventions in which they blasted the government for its perceived ‘failures’ in handling the COVID-19 outbreak.
The opposition says the government has failed in handling the response to the outbreak, pointing to the daily highs in infection cases and the rising number of death from COVID-19.
“Never before in history – since independence and since the establishment of parliament – has there been a time when questions to the prime minister and an emergency are answered by the finance minister,” opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said.
