RM493mn To Be Allocated For Electricity Rebates

Kuala Lumpur: From July 1 to December 31, 2021, a total of RM493 million will be allocated to maintain the electricity rebate rate to consumers.

The Minister of Energy & Natural Resources and Barisan Nasional Communications Director says, “The provision of the rebate through the allocation of the Electric Industry Fund (KWIE) keeps the basic electricity tariff at 39.45 sen/kWh.

“It is estimated that 9.44 million consumers will continue to enjoy the rebate.”

The B40 Electricity Bill Rebate was also introduced by the government.

RM80 million is allocated to the hardcore poor and they are eligible for an electricity bill rebate of RM40.

As of May 2021, the number of eligible Heads of Household is 282,182.
