Gov’t Done Nothing To Reduce COVID-19 Exposure During An Election

Kuala Lumpur: Lawyer, Political Secretary to Lim Kit Siang and Member of Jawatankuasa Keselamatan PH Syahredzan Johan says elections can be held in pandemic but it could be a recipe for disaster without proper handling.

“To hold elections now without any changes to how we have elections is a recipe for disaster of pandemical proportions.

“EC/government has done nothing to minimise Covid exposure during an election, despite nearly a year since PRN Sabah.

“Make no mistake, I believe it is entirely possible to hold elections during a pandemic. But changes must be made, to adapt to the so-called ‘new normal’. People must feel safe enough to exercise their democratic right,” he tweeted.
