Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Malaysia’s main opposition coalition on Sunday (Sept 12) reached a deal on a confidence-and-supply agreement (CSA). Both parties say that a “memorandum of understanding” will be inked on Monday.
The Prime Minister, who is an Umno vice-president, can count on the support of just 114 members but with the deal, the opposition 89 member will either support him during Budget votes or abstain.
Analysts are saying the deal will benefit the people and will tone down the political rhetoric in the country which became unbearable since the Perikatan Nasional overthrew the Pakatan Harapan from power in 2020.
