In a remark to a local business portal in Malaysia, ex-PM Mahathir Mohamad says Malay culture and Malays need help in Malaysia and he uses a soccer analogy to explain his beliefs.
He says the Malay culture is a young culture and they are not ready to face the hardships like the 6000-years old Chinese culture. Hence, 12-year old boys cannot compete against 18-year old boys in a football match he says.
On the other hand, he stresses the Chinese can’t rule the country they are not in majority and, “The Chinese cannot rule the country because they do not have the numbers but with Malays providing good governance, the-non Malays too prospered.”
