After the land vaccinated travel lane (VTL) is launched on November 29, the Causeway’s operating hours will be increased to 18 hours from the current 12 hours, says Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong.
Dr Wee states that Singapore and Malaysia have both agreed to the extension, which will see the Causeway open from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. to facilitate the movement of transport and logistics operators.
He also says the Causeway’s operating hours had been reduced to 12 hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. since April of last year, as a result of both countries’ border closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
