Omicron or not, Malaysia-Singapore want more border opening

1 min read

Despite the arrival of the Omicron virus at the Changi airport, Malaysia and Singapore want more borders to open between both countries even though the new variant disrupts plans to expand the vaccinated travel lane (VTL).

How they are going to do that? Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong says the aim is to expand the land VTL to include general travellers from the middle of December, taking into account the public health situation.

Many countries are racing to contain the new Omicron variant amid fears it is potentially more contagious than the current dominant Delta variant.
