Klang MP Charles Santiago lambasts MITI Minister Azmin Ali who insisted in Parliament the CPTPP deal will not encroach on the rights of the Malays but Santiago says there are many chapters. and provisions that will hurt the Malay community.

Santiago says while the deal offers some preferences to Bumiputeras, it is not a general rule and some of the privileges apply only in limited cases and that is where Azmin, he says is getting it all wrong.

The CPTPP pact involves Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Chile and Peru. Malaysia is one of four countries that have yet to ratify it.
