Lim Guan Eng, the DAP leader, chose to use chopsticks to hit back at Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was his boss for 22 months from 2018 to 2020 after the latter said Malaysian Chinese eating with chopsticks and keeping with their ancestral customs are not doing much to unite the country.
“They are not like their great grandfathers who actually were born in China and came here. “They are born here, brought up here, grew up here, but they still link to (their ancestral roots). So this divides the people,” said the 96-year-old during the launch, as recorded by Budiey Channel.
Chopsticks
In a sharp rebuke, Guan Eng tells Dr Mahathir eating with chopsticks doesn’t make one less Malaysian adding that Mahathir is being simplistic and offensive to the Chinese community, whom the latter suggested have yet to “assimilate”.
