SpeedX Wins Two Consecutive MCS 2021 Races

SEPANG, 15 December 2021 – SpeedX Racing Team helmed by first driver Eddie Lew and second driver William Ho secured top placing in both Race 1 and 2 (Round 3) in the Malaysia Championship Series 2021 (MCS) of the SP2 category today.

On top of these wins, SpeedX has also secured pole position for the final race (Round 4), a 300-kilometer endurance shoot out, in the said category that is taking place tomorrow.

Lew said, “It was an extremely close race today and we were faced with highly aggressive driving from our competitors in both races.” 

“We managed to pull through for both wins because of the hard work and skill-set of our team of engineers, mechanics and crew, all of whom have worked cohesively with the driving team to secure our top placings today.”

“With our pole position tomorrow, we hope to turn in a good performance for the grand finale, which will put our skills, experience and determination to a test. Our wins today have placed us in the 2nd position overall of the MCS 2021 SP2 category and we are going into the race with both poise and confidence,” added Ho.

In the SP2 category, Race 1, Imran Wafi Adnan and Najiy Ayyad from DNT Tune came in second place while third place goes to Putera Adam and Calvin Wong from R Engineering HMRT. In Race 2, Putera Adam and Calvin Wong from R Engineering HMRT won second place and Pee Sau Fan and Ian Wong won third place respectively.

Leong Chun Kok, owner of SpeedX, added “For a team that is participating for the first time in MCS 2021, this is indeed a glorious result. With the capabilities shown by the team, we hope to achieve greater heights in our 2022 racing campaign.”

Leong added, “Moving forward, we plan to participate in more high-level race events in 2022 and we are currently seeking to collaborate with companies and brands in search of a unique exposure to their respective markets via the thrill of motorsports.” 

According to Leong, SpeedX is currently working closely with its marketing partner, Angle 2 Audience Sdn Bhd, to maximise publicity for Malaysian motorsports as a whole. “We believe that Malaysian motorsports can become a tangible contributor to the Malaysian economy by facilitating a vibrant automotive eco-system, encouraging local and international tourism and developing home-grown talent in one of the fastest growing sports globally,” he concluded. 

SpeedX team of drivers and crew has accumulated a total of 25 years of experience on the track. SpeedX also works with the highly experience team from Fast Autoworks and TedCo to ensure that their cars are best fitted and calibrated for the race.

MCS is a long-standing series in Malaysia’s drawing top drivers and racing teams to compete in the T Production (Touring Production) for production cars above 1900cc onwards and a Malaysian Touring Car (M Production) for the 1600cc class.
