Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) CEO Sharzede Salleh Askor says the Sia Sitok Sarawak PLUS will help to encourage more people to come and visit Sarawak (2022 is Visit Sarawak’s year).
The CEO says it has already secured the target sales within a month while the MoU today will help to boost even more sales.
“The aim is to encourage people to come. The MoU will help to boost it more, that’s the whole idea,” she says to LatestMalaysia.
Sharzede also says the commitment of STB and airlines to make the plan come to life with properly structuring and planning and not leave it to mere chances is encouraging.
Apart from that, Sharzede recommends that if you plan to visit Sarawak, she encourages people to explore Mulu for those who don’t mind taking another flight after arriving in Kuching.
Bako is the place to go if you want to experience the culture, meet the proboscis monkey, and travel on a budget.
“I have myself been to Mulu but it requires to take a flight, but if you’re not willing to take another flight and just want to have fun in Kuching go to Bako and experience with the boat. You can even see the proboscis monkey. You can have a place to stay there too and it’s cheaper,” she says.
According to Sharzede, if you want to disguise yourself as a local, Padawan is the way to go! Pay a visit to the cultural village, which is only 14 minutes from Kuching’s city, and explore around seven cultural houses.
“The closest one is Pendawan, where you can look for longhouses there and its the best part is the cultural village, which is like a living museum. There’s about seven houses to experience from. That is about 14 minutes from Kuching and it is a pleasant drive,” she says.
