Zahid ordered to enter defence on corruption, money laundering charges

The Malaysian High Court orders Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, UMNO president, to submit his defence on 47 counts of corruption, bribery, and money laundering.

Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah issued the decision on Monday (Jan 24) after concluding that the prosecution had proved a prima facie case against Ahmad Zahid.

The 69-year-old former deputy prime minister faces 12 counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) in relation to the charity foundation Yayasan Akalbudi’s finances, 27 counts of money laundering, and eight counts of bribery. He owns Yayasan Akalbudi.
