Kids aged 5 to 11 are now vaccinated to curb school clusters

Malaysia launched its Covid-19 vaccination campaign for children aged five to eleven on Thursday (Feb 3) amid growing concerns about school clusters.

But Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says there will be no closures because the cases are asymptomatic or mild, and none were severe or critical.

“There are currently 190 active education clusters, and the number of cases classified as Category 4 or 5 is zero. This proves that vaccination is effective. Schools can remain open; closure is the last resort.”
