Awarded the Lazada Forward Woman of the Year Award (Malaysia), 44 years-old Kong Wai Theng from Selangor, is a pharmacist by training.
She owns a small pharmacy in her neighbourhood in Selangor, Big Care Mart. In 2015, the local store started to lose customer footfall amid intensifying competition from bigger brands and businesses.
Kong realised that eCommerce is picking up pace in Malaysia and decided to bring Big Care Mart onto Lazada, in a bid to make up for lost revenue and to overcome her financial challenges. Her perseverance won and she is recognised with the Lazada Top Seller Award in the Health category in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
