Rumours abound that Tengku Zafrul is resigning or has resigned as the finance minister today after voicing his disaproval over the EPF withdrawal announced by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob this week. But Zafrul has denied quitting in a Facebook post.
According to The Vibes and Cinca News, a Malay language website, Zafrul has resigned as minister today, however the Ministry of Finance has remained mute and has not responded to the reports but posted the Facebook and Twitter link from Zafrul in the MOF WhatsApp group.
“For me, if the decision is wrong, there is no reason for the government to compromise. Once again, I am more willing to resign than do things that should not be, ” Cinca News quotes him as saying in an exclusive interview with Sinar Premium that will be aired on Friday.
