Sabri hangs in balance between the anti-hopping bill and early elections

1 min read

Nazri Aziz has joined the DAP and PH in pressuring the government to table anti-hopping legislation, while the DAP claims that if the law is not presented and enacted quickly, the agreement or MoU between the PH and the government of PM Ismail Sabri Yakoob would collapse.

An early cancellation of the CSA, which is legally binding until the end of July, might allow the administration to dissolve Parliament sooner than envisaged in order to call quick elections.

Nazri claimed that the anti-hopping law should be submitted for debate first, and any recommended amendments may be made subsequently, however de-facto law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar stated that the anti-hopping bill is being postponed owing to conflicts within the ruling coalition.
