Keeping a watchful eye on errant Singaporean motorists

1 min read

After several social media alerts and efforts by Singaporean netizens to call out Singaporean drivers who are unlawfully filling their cars with RON95 in Johor, things are getting tougher.

Besides a hefty fine of  $640,000 fines to pump operators who sell RON95 fuel to Singapore or foreign cars, petrol operators in JB are stepping up efforts to prevent foreign cars from pumping government-subsided petrol.

According to Malaysian news site The Star, one of these initiatives includes stationing fuel station staff at the pump to monitor foreign-registered vehicles as they fill up their tanks while Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry personnel are also patrolling petrol stations in Johor Bahru.
