Russian women took to storm on social media with displeasure by cutting up their Chanel handbags in protest of the brand’s banning of Russia. One of the women was quoted as saying ‘If owning Chanel means selling my motherland, I don’t need Chanel’.
The luxury retailer went to the point of making their Russian customers sign a document saying that they would not use or display any Chanel items in Russia. This is due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, where all European Union brands are banned from selling their products there.

However, luxury items costing below $328 British Pounds are still allowed to be sold in the former Communist country. A Chanel handbag can cost from a minimum of RM15,000 up to RM50,0000, and the bags the women were cutting are estimated to be in the range of RM25,000 – RM40,000 per bag.
What do you think? Is it fair for a brand like Chanel, where Coco Chanel its founder was proven to be a former secret agent of the Nazi party during WW2 to be on the righteous path in banning a part of their consumer base from buying their products? @LatestMalaysia
