Sixteen Malaysians who said they were cheated by traffickers who lured them with lucrative job offers as customer service officers in Cambodia have been rescued.

The victims, aged between 19 and 43, were saved by the PDRM with the assistance of Interpol, ASEAN Police, the Foreign Ministry and the Cambodian police on Apr 5, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director told the media.

Abd Jalil Hassan says the Malaysians were duped through Facebook and once in Cambodia their travel documents were seized, their movements were controlled and they were kept under tight security and were forced to work as scammers.”
