Khmer Times, a daily printed newspaper in Cambodia, says the Preah Sihanoukville Provincial Police staged a mission to reportedly rescue 15 Malaysians who had been abducted, but it turned out to be a ruse to get them to leave Cambodia. The article in Khmer Times is dated April 7.

According to Provincial Authorities Chief Major General Chuon Narin, the expedition was organised after the police were contacted by a building owner who was concerned that an illicit internet gambling operation had kidnapped several Malaysians.

“When our officials got down to the place, they found that those Malaysians were working for a legal casino company,” Narin said. “Some Malaysians working there came up with the trick because they wanted to be assisted in leaving the country.” – Read more @LatestMalaysia
