According to Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, 39 MPs have swapped party allegiances (becoming ‘katak’ ) since the 2018 general election, with three prime ministers chosen in a single legislative session.

A record for Malaysia indeed when it comes to the MPs jumping parties and the removal of three PMs from office in a short span with TS Muhyiddin Yassin now holding the record of being the shortest-serving PM of all time.

But the Parliament is still wobbling in the presence of the constitutional amendment Bill. Another special sitting is now expected to be called in May to consider and pass the revised amendments that will prevent ‘katak’ from existing in high-level politics in Malaysia. The bill is delayed. More @LatestMalaysia
