It has been a few years since Kelantan has enacted its saman for aurat issues (aurat is the Islamic ruling on how men and women should cover their bodies respectfully). Yesterday, a netizen mentioned that he was fully covered according to the Islamic guidelines, which is the belly button through the knees.
However, unfortunate for him, he still got fined all because he was wearing a singlet. Wearing singlets isn’t haram for men at all. It is reported that the fine for not covering the ‘aurat’ is RM1,000. This also entails outfits that are considered to be tight fitting to the body, or is deemed inappropriate by the officer.
The netizen mentioned that he managed to escape the officer. When the law was passed in Kelantan, it received a lot of hate as people said the public will be scared of RM1,000 fines and not God. However, there are staunch religious people who support this rule as it helps more people abide by the Islamic law.
