That’s a lot of travellers leaving Singapore to come to Malaysia for the long weekend that coincides with the Hari Raya holidays in Malaysia. But who are they who came to Malaysia? Are they Malaysians coming home to celebrate Raya?
The huge number of people used the land checkpoints on Friday (Apr 29) and Saturday (Apr 30) to travel to Malaysia. While a lot of them are Malaysians, there is also a large number of Singaporeans who travelled to Johor for the long holidays.
The first day of the border reopening between Malaysia and Singapore saw 33,700 travellers at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints while the Good Friday long weekend saw about 436,800 travellers using the land checkpoints. @LatestMalaysia
