A family from Singapore crossing the JB Customs checkpoint alleges they were victims of extortion after their passports were not duly checked, nor stamped at the gate which opened after they tapped their Touch & Go card.

The man of the family went to query an officer who later told him that this problem could be solved ‘privately‘.

They claim they tapped the Touch & Go at the gate and it opened, but their passports were not checked or stamped, prompting the father to question an officer, who informed them they could face a RM10,000 fine. However, the officer can be settled for RM400.
