A Twitter page recently shared a photo of 9 children coming to someone’s open house for Hari Raya, where they were all wearing red baju Melayu. It was mentioned that the kids were rummaging through other people’s belongings while being a guest.
Furthermore, the Twitter thread mentioned that the kids were asking the owner of the house weird questions such as how many bedrooms and bathrooms they have. The host and hostess of the open house realized they left empty raya packets in the toilets, packets (that had cash) they got after rummaging through their guests handbags.
Some netizens spouted insensitive racial comments claiming that the children were Rohyingya and that they were the ‘Jews’ of Southeast Asia. Some claim that Rohyingya children are usually threatened by their caretakers to reach a quota of donation money.
