“On the morning of Wednesday, May 18, 2022, I presented myself in the case of brother Yasin at the Sesyen Court, Petaling Jaya Court Complex,” says Syed Sadiqq, the Chair of the Medical Marijuana Caucus in solidarity for Yasin.

He is fighting for the legalisation of cannabis for medicinal purposes and the case regarding singer Yasin comes right in the middle of this struggle for the MUDA MP and leader. He says the people using cannabis for medical purposes are not selling them to make money. But they are using them as alternative medicine.

He adds that the time has come for Malaysia to follow in the footsteps of more than 40 countries around the world in acknowledging cannabis as an alternative medicine, adding that WHO also considers the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes as an alternative for patients.

“I have met and had conversations with the PM Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Among what I emphasize is to authorize the State Lawyer Office to give higher consideration to the issue of cannabis use. In fact, judges also need to be given more power and leeway in judging cases related to the use of medicinal cannabis.”
