Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said on Thursday (May 19) that he hopes full connectivity between Singapore and Malaysia will be restored following the reopening of the two countries borders.

Air travel has resumed to more than 180 flights per week to seven destinations across Malaysia, representing roughly 40% of the pre-pandemic flight connectivity levels of around 500 flights per week.

“We hope to see full resumption of air connectivity in the coming weeks and months.” On land, the Causeway and the Second Link have been open, and traffic has been heavy, particularly during the long holiday weekends. Not quite at pre-pandemic levels yet, but I am confident that will improve over time.”
