Penny Wong has the potential to become Australia’s first foreign minister, and the impressive part of it all is that she is a Malaysian. However, there are some that complain about Malaysia not being open enough to allow more non-Malay ministers.
One Twitter user mentioned that Malaysia currently allows the Ministry of Transport to be Chinese, and nothing else. Others weren’t allowed to reply to the tweet, however they quoted the tweet mentioning that Singapore does the same practices for Malays and that we had a Chinese minister of Finance and he was awful.
However, the actions or failures of a person shouldn’t reflect on their entire community. The democratic process, which is usually how ruling parties are elected in Malaysia, is the determining factor of who becomes a minister. This is usually the case around the world where the majority group in a country will always be the leader.
