Pejuang Chairman Mukhriz Mahathir claims the government and developers were taking advantage of the “weaknesses” of Kampung Baru residents, adding that the residents should not be denied fair compensations.

“That is why one aspect that we need to strengthen is their legal defence. That is why we are offering to speak up on their behalf by appointing a panel of lawyers,” he adds, saying his father ex-PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has written to the PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the matter but there is no response yet.

Under the Land Acquisition Act 1960, the government may acquire any land for any public purpose and the government, under Muhyiddin Yassin invoked the acquisition of Kampung Baru land.
