It turns out, the small business owner was caught LYING when she pointed out that Bottega Veneta stole her design. A Twitter user mentioned that the luxury brand released those handbags at least a few months before she even started her own company.
Some Twitter users claim that small Black business owners like her would do anything to scam or lie to other Black people into buying their products. It was alleged that she managed to sell thousands of her Bottega inspired handbag after claiming the brand stole her designs.
It is unclear if Bottega Veneta would take legal action against the business woman who not only has been shown to wrongly accuse the luxury brand, but also have a design similar to what they had produced. Many were defending Bottega as it would not be possible for them to immediately copy from someone and release it there and then.
