According to Tech Youtuber Hugh Jeffreys, he mentioned that the tech industry has been purposely making products obsolete faster, in order to sell more products. This of course is not a sustainable mode of business as it creates more waste.

It is mentioned that Apple was fined 25 million Euros in 2017 for purposely making their older iPhones slower. They claimed that it was to help with the decreasing battery life of their older devices. Similarly, Samsung is also guilty of this practice where they’d throttle the speeds of even their latest devices, and would only remove these limits when being benchmarked.

Commenters mentioned that these products are not cheap, but are cheaply made by all of these manufacturers. Many agreed, especially for tech companies, that the word ‘green’ and ‘sustainable’ are all hypocrisies, as is done by even the fashion industry.
