The debate is on and Twitter is buzzing with posts on the GEG. While it is clear that some are posting on Twitter to support Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin’s bill as if it is a game, Syed Sadiqq, MP for Muar, made a good point in suggesting a review of the bill.
His point is there are clear illustrations of possible abuse of power that will be given to enforcement officers in implementing the GEG but a good Dr thought showing her one-sided support for the bill and calling for all to blindly support it without discussions shows the abuse that is already taking place.
Dr Rafidah Abdullah asked Syed Saddiq and ‘any MPs’ that plan to oppose the bill to follow her doing rounds at the hospital, presumingly to see the consequences that smoking and vaping have had on Malaysians to which the MP replied it can be done but she got to follow him too, to meet people who had to face abuses by authorities and who had to cough up money to enforcers.
