Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia’s Finance Minister, has denied that Budget 2023 will be brought forward to allow Parliament to be dissolved earlier, amid growing speculation about whether Malaysia will hold elections by November.
He told reporters on Sunday that talk of the budget being tabled in late September or early October were “just rumours” (Aug 7).
“To the best of my knowledge, it remains the same as per Parliament’s calendar for October 28,” said Datuk Seri Zafrul, who was appointed treasurer of the Umno-led Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Selangor chapter last week.
