Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has promised a public and transparent investigation into the alleged misappropriation of hundreds of millions of dollars in the LCS shipbuilding project, but will he follow through?
The PM’s move is probably an attempt to distance himself from the senior Umno officials who have been implicated in the scandal, says an article in the Straits Times Singapore.
The problem is that this scandal risk has a deep hole, so deep that it may hurt his and Umno’s chances in the upcoming elections, but some say Sabri risks reprisals from the party leaders involved in the ditching of the contract in the first place. What say you?
