Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi may have provided the opposition with a fine weapon for the general elections with his failure to curb criticism over remarks he made at the MIC Assembly last week.
During the assembly, he warned Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders that they will be persecuted (but people heard prosecuted) if Umno fails to win the elections and this has now turned against him with a large majority of netizens and politicians saying this is the real reason behind the dissolution of the Parliament, that is to save the corrupt leaders of the party.
The opposition is now warning Malaysians not to vote for the Umno-led bloc, saying BN leaders want to win the polls to protect themselves from court cases and Tun Dr Mahathir made it clear that he believes Umno wants to win to free ex-PM Najib Razak from jail.
