The luxury brand Balenciaga placed themselves into hot waters yesterday after using children in their recent advertisement campaigns in suggestive poses. The brand officially posted on their Instagram stories stating that they don’t condone such behaviours and that they will take necessary steps with the director who did the shoot.

However, did nobody screened through the whole advertisement campaign? What use is the marketing department if they pre approved everything regardless of what content comes out? Furthermore, the legal document referencing child pornography on the desk was not screened through properly?
There are limits to being edgy, even in our day and age. It is unclear what was the brand’s actual agenda and even after the public apology, it is still shocking to many. Odd for a social justice warrior brand to go against what they themselves believe in.
