Theformer Ministry of International Trade and Industry Minister and iron lady of Malaysia during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s era in the 1990s, Rafidah Aziz lambasted Tengku Zafrul’s appointment at Miti and Umno leader DS Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as Deputy PM.
In a missive on her Facebook page, Rafidah Aziz fumes saying there is that “optics of ‘scraping the barrel’ when you appointed someone who lost in the elections. Rejected by the voters and now, re-appointing the person as a senator to make him a Minister.”
She asks, where is the credibility when losers are taken on board? There are others perhaps more suitable, for you to appoint.” In her view, the cabinet would be great without Zafrul and Zahid, calling them albatrosses around Anwar’s neck.
