Our new Prime Minister, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim is quite active on Twitter, and he has a sense of humour unlike many Malaysian politicians. There was a netizen that said “selamat pagi papa” and he swiftly responded with “please don’t do that.”
Don’t call Anwar Ibrahim “papa”
There were memes showing Anwar Ibrahim not being impressed with the tweet and netizens claimed that it would be his exact facial reaction towards it. Netizens also made jokes about how our previous Prime Ministers such as Muhyiddin Yassin preferred people to call him daddy, and they stated that now this is awkward.
A sensible netizen stated that we are supposed to call our Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that having a “daddy” fetish to our political leaders is just weird. The quote now will remain in Malaysian history as netizens are uploading it all over social media.
