Death toll rises to 19 in Batang Kali tragedy. 14 still missing

Batang Kali tragedy:

In a press conference, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis announces that 19 people have died in the tragic incident (four of those who died in the landslide today were children), with authorities excavating the body of one victim and 14 still missing.

Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming stated that the campsite had been operating illegally. All “high-risk” camping areas in Malaysia have been ordered to close for seven days, effective immediately.

According to the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, three Singaporeans were among those rescued by Malaysian authorities following the landslide near Genting Highlands (MFA).
